East End Events

By Sharon Scott

Our communities would like to extend their condolences to Plainview School Superintendent, Melissa Parks and family on the loss of her Mother and Uncle over the past few weeks. They both lived in Oklahoma.

Sorry about no news last week. We didn't have any power from Sunday morning to Monday afternoon due to the snow storm that hit our area. It seemed like everything I went to do on Sunday, took electricity. We take so many things for granted until we don't have them.

Card of Thanks

Words fail me to truly express my sincere thanks and gratefulness to my dear families and friends for all the cards, e-mails, phone calls, verbal greetings for my 80th birthday.  It seems that I celebrated all week!

Melissa Peterson reminded me that I am now an “octogenarian”.  I hadn’t thought of that fact, but now I rejoice, since I remember that I have had a good and blest life.

Aunt Jemima Breakfast Products Recalled

Pinnacle Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling all “Best By” dates of Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes, Frozen Waffles & Frozen French Toast Slices distributed nationally in the United States and one product into Mexico because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported. The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure given the health and safety of our consumers is our top priority.

Photo of the Week

One of our most popular features over the past 16 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.
