We have no significant precipitation in our 5-day forecast for Kiowa County. The nights are going to be cold, with lows in the upper teens for most areas in the coming week.

The coldest afternoon is expected to be Monday with only 40 degrees, then climbing to 50 for Wednesday through Friday.

Looking at the extended forecast from December 14-20, I don't see any major precipitation for us, but it does look colder starting December 16, with highs only in the 30s.

Precipitation for the month of November finished with 0.16 at Eads, and Sheridan Lake reporting 0.38

Can you believe December is here already and Christmas will be here before we know it? I can blame the fast passing of time on old age - what's your excuse?

My brother Doug would have been 71 years old today, December 1. Doesn't seem possible he's been gone for 33 years this coming January 2020.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner and visiting at the home of my sister, Jerene, and her husband, Ian DeBono. Other guests were Chad DeBono of Lamar and Jason, Gina, Dexter and Jett Dechant of Kit Carson.

A year in the books!

November 10 marked the official ending of the 4-H year for the hardworking members of Kiowa County with the annual 4-H banquet.

The Kiowa County 4-H Council, President, Hatch Nelson; Vice President, Emily Nelson; Secretary, Katherine Trosper; Treasurer, Chase Stolzenberger; Reporter, Zoie Arnold-Kraft; and recreation leaders Clayton Nelson and Alexa Nelson; and Gaige Rittgers did a great job announcing the evenings events.

As I write this, Krystal is getting candy ready for all the kids that will be in costumes, most likely under their heavy coats, for the Halloween parade.

After cold few days, and the office being closed Wednesday, it is good to see some moisture. I know it isn't in the ideal form, but it is still good, nonetheless.

It has been a busy fall with many meetings and planning events for 4-H youth.
