Kiowa County Coroner Jimmy Brown has confirmed the identities of two women found dead last week south of Eads.

The bodies of Linda Estrada, 44, and Amy Ford, 39, both of Emporia, Kansas, were found last Wednesday according to a statement from Kiowa County Sheriff Bryan Williams. Sheriff’s Office personnel were assisting the Emporia Police Department (EPD) in the search for the women, who had been reported missing September 11.

EPD began an investigation when the women were reported missing, and tracked them to Colorado. Investigators traveled to eastern Colorado September 18, before the women were found dead September 20.

A homicide investigation is being conducted by the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) in conjunction with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. A person of interest in the case, who has not been identified, is in custody on unrelated charges.

KCSO says there is no threat to the public.
