Theresa Weber, retired from Sheridan Lake area postmaster, was honored at potluck luncheon & program held at the Plainview School on August 5. Jerry Weber, Theresa son and the mayor of Sheridan Lake presented a proclamation declaring August 5, 2001 “Theresa Weber Day”. Jerry Jones, US Postmaster Eads , presented a service award, gold watch and an attaché case on behalf of the United States Postal Service.
- Rod Johnson USDA Updates: Plan on visiting the Kiowa County Fair September 5th to 8th. Due to the hard work of Fran Larrew and family and numerous volunteers, the fair grounds have really been spruced up.
- Demolition Derby to be held Sunday September 9. Sponsored by Eads FFA Booster Club

August 22, 1991
- Dr. John Phillips, who is presently an Air Force flight surgeon, will be the second doctor to visit Eads as part of the recruiting effort by board members of the Weisbrod Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.
- The Town of Eads along with several other municipalities and counties in Southeastern Colorado, have banded together to begin the process of forming a Joint Recycling Program.
- The Russian coup was felt in the grain bins of Kiowa County this week. Wheat prices plummeted after news got out that Mikhail Gorbachev had been deposed as leader of the Soviet Union.
- A Nice Catch! caption on picture of Kodie Baer. He caught two catfish that weighed 11.5 lbs and 8 lbs from Nee Grande August 13.

August 13, 1976
- Retail sales were up a whopping 51.6 per cent in Kiowa County during the first quarter of 1976 according to figures released by the Business Research Division of the University of Colorado’s Graduate School of Business Administration.
- The State Highway Commission has approved again the widening of U.S. Highway 287 south of Eads to the Prowers County border and resurfacing 12 miles of State Highway 96 east of Haswell, project it had said would not be completed this year.
- Beginning August 15, the Colorado Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) will be making unannounced, on-location inspections of Colorado farms and ranches.
- The Haswell Post Office is still open and operating despite an earlier announcement it would close July 30 and also despite the fact that Postal Service has already designated Hazel Spady to operate a postal facility at the Haswell store on a contract basis.

August 19, 1966
- There is a concerted effort to reopen the local bowling alley, as several businessmen and individuals are making every effort to arrive at some means getting the job done.
- R. Kelley Jackson, native of Kiowa County and long time resident of Eads, announced his candidacy for State Senator in the 14th District on the Democratic ticket.
- The Eads little leaguers, coached this year by Robert Woods, emerged as champions of the K-C tournament held at Kit Carson Thursday through Saturday of last week, defeating Kit Carson n a doubleheader Saturday for the honors.

- At one o’clock last Wednesday afternoon patrons of the Mountain States Tel. & Tel. Co. in Eads found it necessary to acquaint themselves with the new dial system which was place in operations at that time

- Blair Store will be closed all day next Tuesday on account of invoicing. Wolever & Co. will be open for business on Wednesday morning.
