Congratulations to the Plainview Knowledge Bowl team. They took second place in class 1-A at the regional tournament in Lamar Friday. This qualifies them for the state tournament.

March 7, 1991

A dust storm blew into Kiowa County Tuesday as temperatures climbed into the 70s and a brisk wind sprang up. The highway from Lamar to Springfield reported as being closed.

40 years

February 27, 1976

“ It’s too early to write off  70% of the Kiowa County wheat crop, as some news media reports are doing,”  according to George Ellicott, county  extension agent.

February 25, 1916

The city council met Tues. night and passed following ordinances. Prohibiting cows to range in the city limits; license to be  placed on dogs; and a speed limit. Minor ordinances were also placed on first reading.
