After a high temperature near 100 Friday, Kiowa County can look forward to a cooling trend into next week and chances of showers and thunderstorms.
Watch for afternoon and evening and evening thunderstorms Friday as unstable air continues to drift east from Utah. Small hail, locally heavy rain, damaging winds and lightning are possibilities.
Storms may return each evening through at least Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of less than one-tenth inch are expected, though amounts could be higher where storms occur.
Highs will cool to the upper 80s Saturday, before returning to the low 90s through much of the week, potentially dropping to the upper 80s again Thursday. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.
