Those traveling across interstates 25, 27, 40, 70, 76 or 80 should be aware of diminishing visibility and slippery roadways as snow coats the highways. Bridges and overpasses are typically going to become dangerous first, but if enough snow falls, any road can become hazardous.

The Colorado Conservation Tillage Association is proud to announce that Tailyn Thompson of Genoa has been selected as the recipient of the $1,000 CCTA Scholarship for 2022. 

A senior attending Limon High School, Thompson has diligently served her community through 4-H, FFA, and school-related activities. She was raised on a farm and ranch north of Genoa, Colorado, where she developed a deep-rooted passion for agriculture and learned about the importance of soil and water conservation.

Rhealie Krentzlyn Rittgers, daughter of Robert and Jacqueline Rittgers, was named Good Citizen from Eads High School. 

I, Joshua Gordon Swanson, am officially announcing my candidacy for the office of Kiowa County Sheriff, as a Republican Candidate. I am seeking this office to decrease Kiowa County’s drug and crime rate and make Kiowa County safer for our community. If I am elected, I will serve Kiowa County with Integrity, Honor, Dedication, Honesty, and Loyalty.

I was raised in Bent County at the Las Animas Fish Hatchery. I graduated from Cheraw High School and then attended Lamar Community College obtaining an Associates Degree in Computer Science.

The Eads Middle School Knowledge Bowl teams recently traveled to Flagler for the fourth competition of the season.  

Both teams returned to Eads with hardware as the seventh-grade team brought home the first-place trophy and the eighth graders finished second in their division.
