The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man struck by lightning while camping at Ruby Gulch Saturday afternoon.
According to BCSO, an emergency call came in around 2:30 p.m. in which a woman reported that her boyfriend had been struck while he was standing next to their tent. They were camping near Forest Service Road 328E in Boulder County.

Dear Sharon,
When I was a child, I had to sit at the dinner table until I finished eating my green beans. I would plug my nose and eat as many as I could. Then I would wait for my Mom to finish washing the dishes, and my dad was deep into the evening news. I would discreetly toss the remainder of the green beans underneath the fridge. “Mom, I’m finished.”
As fires scorched more than 200,000 acres in Colorado, drought conditions deteriorated for part of the state.
Abnormally dry conditions expanded in western Larimer county, while moderate drought returned to northern Routt County, along with smaller portions of Moffat and Jackson counties.
Conditions in the remainder of the state remained stable, with more than one-third of Colorado in extreme over exceptional conditions, the two worst catagories.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for the public’s help in collecting information related to two mountain goats that were shot and found dead July 3, approximately 2.8 miles up the Quandary Peak Trail in Summit County.
