Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2016, Deputy Wic Turner responded to a residence on County Road 34 - about 6 miles west of Eads - for a report of a black bear in the yard at the home.
The 200 - 300 pound black bear was tranquilized by the Department of Wildlife and removed from the area.
Upon investigation, it was determined the bear had at one time been trapped in Colorado Springs and transported to Trinidad before making it's way to the residence west of Eads.

Marvin and his wife Linda were teachers at Plainview School before they retired and moved to Gunnison, CO. Linda had shoulder surgery three weeks ago, so she isn't traveling yet. We really had a nice visit with Marvin.
