Arrest Made in Rocky Ford Child Death Case

An arrest has been made in the Rocky Ford child death investigation from May 20.
Ryan Casias, 20, of Rocky Ford was arrested on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death.
Casias was taken to the Otero County Jail where he is being held on $150,000 bond.  Casias was scheduled for advisement at the Otero County District Courthouse in La Junta Friday.
Police were called to a Rocky Ford home on a call of an unresponsive child May 20. Jayleianna Trujillo, age 1, was transported to the hospital for treatment and later died.

Antero Reservoir Reopens to Fishing June 5

Antero Reservoir will reopen to anglers June 5, at 9:00 a.m. after a major rehabilitation project on Antero Dam.

“Denver Water is very excited to reopen the reservoir to recreation,” said Brandon Ransom, Denver Water’s manager of recreation. “We fully understand that fishing and camping are major contributors to the South Park economy, and we consider it a privilege to be able to contribute to the recreational opportunities in the region.”

Memorial Day DUI Enforcement Underway

The Heat Is On DUI enforcement campaign will return for Memorial Day weekend as Coloradans celebrate the unofficial start of summer. Ninety-six law enforcement agencies are participating statewide. The heightened enforcement is a collaborative effort conducted by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and local law enforcement statewide. The increased enforcement starts Friday, May 26, and ends on Tuesday, May 30.
