It's been a bad week for two of our neighbors. Ruth Fees fell a week ago today and broke her arm. She underwent surgery on Monday to set the arm. Howard Votruba fell last Thursday at the fire station in Sheridan Lake and broke several bones in the top of his foot and bruised a leg badly. He will be seeing a surgeon on this Monday to have surgery. We wish the best for both of you and a fast recovery.
Losing someone close to you may leave you feeling sad, lost, alone, or even angry. You may miss the person who has died—you want him or her back. This is all part of mourning, a normal reaction to the loss of someone you’ve cared for.
San Juan National Forest fire officials are warning that continued dry conditions in Southwestern Colorado mean that fire danger is a concern. Freezing drizzle is expected across much of northeast Colorado Sunday, while the southeast will see patchy fog clearing through the morning. Temperatures will be much cooler than Saturday, with most of the plains reaching only low 40s.
Traveling over the holiday season is stressful enough under ideal circumstances, but for 5.5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s (including 69,000 in Colorado) and their families, this can be a particularly challenging time.
While the symptoms of this progressive brain disease can sometimes make travel more difficult, it doesn’t mean families can’t travel with a loved one with dementia and participate in holiday festivities.
