I'm back -- It's been four weeks since I last wrote an article. No, I haven't been being lazy, just very busy and traveling. I was gone for
2 weeks to New Jersey to take care of the grandchildren while their parents were in Japan attending a Conference. Craig and Laurie's flight was 13 hours non-stop. I'm doing good to stay in a plane 4 hours. Guess I won't be doing much traveling abroad. Anyway, it was nice to get away, but nicer to be back home.

Here at Liver Health Connection, we educate patients, providers, and the general public about diseases affecting the liver and provide advocacy, resources, and support. Two diseases of particular concern to us are hepatitis C, a life-threatening chronic disease that affects an estimated 3.2 million Americans, including about 60,000 people in Colorado, and liver cancer, the 6th leading cause of cancer in the US.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Education and Colorado State Library announced the expansion of the Check Out Colorado State Parks program to 287 libraries statewide, including the Kiowa County Public Library in Eads, with a proclamation read by Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne today at the Denver Central Library.
Check Out Colorado State Parks Program is an initiative offering residents the ability to check out a hang-tag park pass from their local library for entrance into any of Colorado’s 42 state parks.
NASS data, ARC-CO Program to be key topics of discussion
Colorado Corn staff and board members encourage farmers and any others interested to attend our upcoming District 7 meeting in Springfield, where attendees will hear updates about the two Colorado Corn organizations and issues impacting the industry.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Longhorn Steakhouse, located at 400 Main St. Dinner will be provided at the meeting. No RSVP needed.
The list of acts coming to the Colorado State Fair continues to grow; two acts have been added to the already diverse entertainment list.

A varying chance of showers and thunderstorms continues this week, joined by slightly cooler temperatures as an upper high pressure ridge builds into the area Monday, with a shortwave dropping down across the plains.
High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to around 90 throughout the week, with lows near 60.

Dud rounded the corner on his block and headed for the edge of town at an easy jog. Well, easy for an Olympic miler, he thought. It was making him breathe hard and he wasn’t even a block from the house. But this is the price. Oh yes, the price I must pay for my goal.
“Dud,” said Doc, “I worry about you spending so much time agonizing over that book of yours.”
“I have to do it, Doc,” Dud said. “There are still so many things to plan in the book. Things like the duchess’s daughter and her relationship with the truck driver on special assignment …”
The Kiowa County Public Library Summer Reading program will begin July 12 and run for three weeks.
The program will be held Tuesdays and Thursday from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. (July 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, & 28).
Summer Reading Early Registration will begin June 27 and continue until July 8. If you register early you will receive a prize.

Another rain-up to an inch or more reported in Kiowa County Saturday evening. But a hot drying wind Tuesday was rapidly curing the wheat that is just starting to be cut.
