NRCS Provides Funding for Ag Producers to Help Address Energy Conservation

Agricultural producers in Colorado who are interested in identifying ways to conserve energy on their farm, or who want to implement conservation practices recommended in an energy audit such as irrigation water management, lighting system improvements, or residue and tillage management are encouraged to apply for the second round of 2016 funding available thru USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS) on-farm energy initiative.  Applications MUST be received by Friday, July 15, 2016.

Public Hearings Scheduled for US 50 Corridor

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is hosting public hearings in the counties of: Pueblo, Otero, Bent, and Prowers to provide the public opportunities to comment on the US 50 Corridor East Tier 1 Draft Environmental Impact Study (EIS). The project recommends improvements on US 50, extending from Pueblo to the Kansas state line.

On June 10, 2016 a notice that the draft document was made available was published in the Federal Register informing the public that a 45-day public comment period.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. Normally we are deep into harvest on the 4th, but the rains have brought the harvest to a standstill. The moisture is great, but the farmers would rather it held off until harvest was over.

Recently, Jim and MaryAnn Richardson traveled to Oklahoma to visit Jim's brother Bob and wife Betty; grandson Josh Richardson and family, where they met their new great-granddaughter for the first time; son David and wife Linda and MaryAnn's brother, Dr. John Christiansen and wife Kay.
