Much of the discussion about education focuses on the K-12 years, but some early childhood education experts suggest serious learning can start even earlier and pay dividends for the child in years to come.

 “Children’s minds are like sponges when they are very young. Under age 5 is the most important time for development and our best opportunity to set up children for success. If we strongly educate children at a very young age, while their brains are so pliable, by the time they reach kindergarten, their brain capacity is much higher.”

Several family members and friends gathered at the Legacy Saturday afternoon to help Mary Huddleston have cake and ice cream to celebrate her 96th birthday.  Also, a big thank you to all who sent her cards.  She really enjoyed hearing from so many people. Happy 96th birthday Mom!!

Ruth Rose of Eads celebrated her 102^nd birthday February 21. The main thing that Ruth wanted to do was to play bingo, so Teri Castle-Simmons and Tonya Lane arranged bingo games for Ruth, and her family members who came as well as the residents. The staff served birthday cake and ice cream for all the guests. Happy 102nd birthday to a dear pioneer lady.
