Online dating has become one of the most popular ways for people of all ages to meet friends, significant others and spouses. While most people have good intentions when using online dating websites, scammers also use the same sites to obtain money, gifts or personal information.

When meeting people online, it is important that you use a reputable website and always consider the possibility that the love interest you are chatting with might be a scammer. The following are some red flags to help determine if that “dream date” might actually be trying to steal your money:

It didn’t look like the typical nitty gritty work of wildlife conservation.

For a few chaotic minutes Monday, it looked like the “Bighorn Sheep Rodeo.” And it seemed the Colorado Parks and Wildlife wranglers were losing.

But the tide turned quickly and soon the bucking bighorn sheep were subdued by about 100 CPW wildlife officers, biologists, staff and volunteers who swarmed some 30 sheep from Colorado Springs’ Rampart herd trapped under a 70-by-70 foot net.

It all began when Windy Wilson told the assembled philosophers at the Mule Barn truck stop that he was going to start writing songs so he could win what he called the Nobelly Prize for Lit-a-chur. He said Bob Dylan won it and got money and all kinds of stuff and his name was in the paper, and Windy figured he could do the same thing, only in country music.

Steve had been listening to this for some minutes and finally said, “Windy, tell you what. You write a song, and I’ll sing it.”

“You can sing?” Windy said.
