See History Come Alive at the Frontier History Encampment
Biennial event set to return to Lamar Community College September 29-30
Travel back in time this fall at the Frontier History Encampment, set for September 29-30 at the Lamar Community College campus. Visitors will see history come to life through expert first-person historic interpreters who create a walk-through immersion into the 19th century.
The Encampment will be open to the public on Friday, September 29, from 12:00-5:00pm and Saturday, September 30, from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Local students are among the winners of general academic scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas.

Hickenlooper Appoints Four Members to Parks Commission
Governor John Hickenlooper appointed by executive order Carrie Besnette Hauser of Glenwood Springs, James George Spehar of Grand Junction, Marie E. Haskett of Meeker and Marvin Edward McDaniel of Sedalia to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission, August 29.
Hauser and Spehar are serving as representatives of outdoor recreation and utilization of parks resources, with terms expiring July 1, 2019. Hauser and Spehar replace the resigning Christopher J. Castilian of Denver and William G. Kane of Basalt.
