The upcoming High School volleyball game October 13 between Kit Carson Lady Wildcats and Eads Lady Eagles promises to be an exciting Pack the Gym night.

The Kit Carson Booster Club will be hosting the annual PINK OUT and Silent Auction to benefit the Tragedy Fund that benefits families in need in our community and surrounding areas. The catch phrase for the evening is “The Purples & Golds united in PINK.”  Please come and support the girls and go home with some great items!  Everyone wins when we help one another.

The current water temperature is around 74 degrees. The fishing from south shore has been slow as of recently. Fish are being caught throughout the lake with worms and PowerBait. The fishing near Reilly canyon has been slow due to the low water levels, but some anglers are still catching small perch and catfish. Boat anglers are catching mostly trout and walleye. Worm harnesses and trolling have worked in depths around 20 to 30 feet.

The Kiowa County Commissioner’s meeting was called to order at 09:05 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott. Those in attendance for the August 24, 2017 meeting were:

Minutes of the last meeting: Oswald moved and McLoud seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as presented. Motion carried.

The Pueblo weather forecast office of the National Weather Service announced in mid-September that its radar site would be offline through the end of the month so that repairs to the mechanical system could be made.

The first day of fall will see summer-like temperatures across Colorado’s eastern plains, along with strong winds and a few thunderstorms along the Colorado-Kansas border. Look for a change, however, as the weekend starts.
