Vehicle Stolen from Motel, Burglary Attempt at Kiowa Healthmart
Bent/Kiowa County Dispatch received a 911 call Tuesday morning, June 21, at 2:39 a.m. reporting a burglary in progress at Kiowa Healthmart, 1201 Maine Street, in Eads. Undersheriff Jake Six and Deputy Josh Swanson responded. Cameron Wheeler Jordan, 28, of Eads was taken into custody and transported to Prowers County Jail. The 2012 GMC Sierra pickup at the scene was later reported stolen from the Cobblestone Inn & Suites, 501 E.
Colorado Parks Raising Awareness of Dangers of Boating Under the Influence
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is participating in Operation Dry Water, June 24 to 26, 2016, as part of a nationally coordinated effort to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence (BUI) and reduce the number of accidents and deaths related to alcohol and drug use on our waterways.

Highway 96 Reopens following Rail Bridge Fire Near Haswell
UPDATED.
Highway 96 reopened at 3:30 p.m. to all traffic following a multi-hour closure three miles west Haswell due to a fire that engulfed at a rail bridge.
A grass fire was original reported around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. That fire was contained, but not before causing the rail bridge to burn.
The cause of the fire is not currently known.

Sand Creek Massacre Site Recruiting Volunteers
Last year over 5,800 tourists visited Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site (NHS) near Eads, Colorado. Ranger staff responded by presenting over 450 formal interpretive and education programs. This year, the park is recruiting for volunteers to assist staff with visitor services such as welcoming and orienting the public and presenting short interpretive programs.
Engagement - Splitter-Koester
Mark and Ruth Splitter wish to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter Hannah to Garet Koester, son of Roger and Tricia Koester.
The wedding is being planned for August 6, 2016 in Sterling KS.
The couple will make their home in Concordia, KS where Hannah will be teaching 2nd grade in the Concordia Elementary School and Garet will be farming.
Hannah is the Granddaughter of Eugene and Judy Splitter of Sheridan Lake CO.
Congratulations to Bryan Williams on his Retirement from the Colorado State Patrol
Colorado State Patrol (CSP) Trooper Bryan Williams has been with the Patrol for 23 years, with the past 15 served in a four-county area in southeast Colorado.
Williams said he always wanted to be in some type of law enforcement or in the military. Before joining CSP he served in the Marines six years, three years as active duty, then three as a reserve.
