“Happy New Year, Readers: Betty Shotton taught me one of my favorite songs, “Gentle Shepherd, come and lead us, for we need You to help us find our way”…”come to feed us…help us face another day”. Those words are my prayerful and hopeful prayer for 2017.
Lance and Taya Jagers took their children, Cassidy and Corbin, to the Arizona Annual Goat Show at the Arizona State Fair Grounds last week where they both place in the top four in the Show.
What a year!
We owe a debt of gratitude to all of you for the tremendous success the Kiowa County Press has experienced over the past year.

After two relatively warm days to start the new year, temperatures will drop below the freezing mark at least through Friday night.
Sunday and Monday will be mostly sunny with above-seasonal highs in the mid- to upper 40s. Overnight lows will be in the low teens to 20s.
Once the temperature drops below freezing Monday night, don’t look for warmer temperatures to return before Saturday as a cold air mass drops into the area. The high will be in the mid- to upper 20s Tuesday and Wednesday, with overnight lows falling to the mid-single digits.

Cooking and heating are the most common causes of Carbon Monoxide poisoning at home. Installing Carbon Monoxide detectors throughout your home is the best way to prevent poisoning from this silent killer.

Doc wasn’t really sure just why he woke up so early this morning and went outside. It was cold, of course, as the first day of any new year is supposed to be. He and Mrs. Doc had watched some television of the parties taking place around the world, but then, about 11, he began thinking of the mystery he was reading, and how comforting and nice it is to lie in bed and read each night as part of a years-old routine.
So he went to bed and read. Mrs. Doc came in a few minutes later.

ERADICATE POVERTY?
Jesus said that you have the poor with you always. We will never erase poverty but there is good reason to help the poor. “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord-and he will repay you!” Proverbs 19:17
