Weekend Weather Outlook – Warming Delayed

After snow fell across much of the state between Wednesday and Thursday evenings, colder temperatures are hanging on longer than anticipated earlier this the week, and may not rise above the freezing mark until Sunday.

Friday will start off cloudy, gradually clearing through the morning. The high will approach 20 before falling below zero overnight. Wind chill will range from 5 to -5 through the day, falling to -5 to -15 overnight.

Saturday’s high is expected to stay just below freezing before returning to single digits overnight.

Coyotes May be More Territorial in January-February

If it seems that coyotes are less tolerant of human presence during the months of January and February, there is a biological reason: this is their breeding season. As coyotes pair up to breed, they may be more territorial than usual and defend their space as they carve out a place to have their young. Citizens are well-advised to be aware of their presence and the potential for conflicts with humans in metro and rural areas.

Deadline Approaching for Inclusion in Annual Farm Fresh Publication

Growers can market their products to consumers statewide through the annual Colorado Farm Fresh Directory. Published by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, Farm Fresh promotes Colorado farmers’ markets, roadside stands, u-picks, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) producers, agritourism activities and farms and ranches that sell direct to the public. The 2017 edition is being organized, and producers are encouraged to submit their information for inclusion.
