Flu Symptoms

Influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:

Fishful Thinker TV, a documentary-style show for western anglers, is showcasing Colorado state parks and wildlife areas this season. The show will feature a realistic cross-section of the fishing opportunities available in the state. This season premieres January 7 at 9:30 a.m. on the Altitude Sports and Entertainment network.

• We awoke to about 4 inches of snow and a lot of ice underneath. There was a power outage on the west end of the county.

• Wild Horse Roundup-Curtis Schrimp: I received in the mail a large envelope with 55 fan letters inside. They were from a middle school class in Clifton.

One of our most popular features over the past 15 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.

Who says everything from 2016 has to be bad? There were plenty of bright spots this year, at least in terms of movies. It’s true that I missed out on some successes, both commercial (“Central Intelligence,” “Bad Moms”) and critical (“Miss Sloane,” “Paterson”), but I think I’ve seen a decent-enough cross-section to make some informed decisions. And of course, if you think I left a film off or you want to talk about the rankings, you can always email me at rrg251@nyu.edu.

Online voting has started to choose the book that every 4-year-old in the state will be reading this spring, along with a little help from parents, siblings, friends and family.
