Card of Thanks

Thank You

Church Alive would like to thank everyone who so generously gave to the Kelly Darnell Benefit by “purchasing" a helium balloon at the Kiowa County Fair.

Thanks to your giving from your hearts. A substantial donation was deposited at Kiowa County National Bank into the Kelly Darnell Fund. Working together, we were able to help in a greater way than we otherwise could have.

Blessings on each of you for demonstrating Kiowa County Heart!

Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Cooler, Unsettled

By Chris Sorensen

While the first day of autumn is over a week away, hints changes will be evident in the forecast for this week.

Sunday will have a summer-like high temperature in the mid-90s before starting a drop-off for a few days as a front passes through the area. Monday remains mostly sunny with a high in the mid-80s.

Tuesday will be the coolest day of week, with a below-normal 65 for the high. Temperatures will rebound to the mid-70s to low 80s for the remainder of the week.

Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Learn how at a series of free National Preparedness Month Webinars

When large scale disasters hit an area, the infrastructure failure is particularly damaging to small businesses. Recent flooding in Louisiana points to a hard rule: when your business is cut off from clients, vendors and critical staff, the economic losses continue long after the cleanup is done.

Home Country

Our month of change. Our month of happy change. Once more we can stand the thought of wearing a sweater as the summer sun burns itself down. Once again we can think about a new year at school, a new teacher. Once again, the house is ours … and quiet during the day.

September.

In the forest, the animals are polishing antlers, sleeking muscles for the mating ruts to come, marking their territories. The deciduous trees are showing those awesome changes of color as the mountains become a splendid quilt of temporary beauty.

Photo of the Week

One of our most popular features from the past 15 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.
