Tricks, Treats and Tiaras Coming to LCC

Three Halloween events are coming to Lamar Community College on October 30 and 31: Princess Day at the Cosmetology Salon, Treat Street, and the LCC Cosmetology’s Halloween Party.

Princess Day will be held in conjunction with Treat Street again this year and is set for Monday, October 30, from 3:00-5:00pm in the Salon. 

Princess Day is a completely free event for children in the area.  LCC Cosmetology students will braid hair and give a quick nail polish to help kids complete their Halloween look just in time for Treat Street that evening. 

Rocky Ford Cold Case Investigation Continues

The Rocky Ford Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate a missing persons case from nearly 35 years ago after new information came to light.

November 1, 1982, Victoria Lenore Sanchez and Yvonne Marie Mestas, both 15 at the time, left Rocky Ford High School during the afternoon and disappeared.

New information, which has not been disclosed, led RFPD and CBI to continue the investigation to determine what happened the day the girls went missing.

Jessica and Dalton Mercure Wedding

Baldoria on the Water was the beautiful outdoor setting for the exchange of wedding vows between Jessica Leigh Cochran and Dalton Chandler Mercure on Sat., June 24, 2107.  Father Eustace Sequeira, SJ, was the officiating Priest at the wedding ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Cochran of Aurora, CO and Mrs. Allison Duran of Cortez, CO and Mr. Jose Mercure of San Bernardino, CA.

EPA Awards $1.3 M for Arkansas River Pollution

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $1,293,010 to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to help protect human health and the environment through a Nonpoint Source Program Clean Water Act Section 319 cooperative agreement. This grant is given to states to implement environmental programs that address nonpoint source pollution in surface water and groundwater in order to improve and protect water quality.
