The second amendment of the United States Constitution states: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

Obviously the need for a state militia has been replaced by the National Guard and Coast Guard whereby trained military personnel are entrusted with the defense of this country against domestic enemies. Their weapons are tightly controlled and safeguarded.

The Board of Directors of Farm Credit of Southern Colorado has announced that they have selected Jeremy Anderson to fill the role of President and CEO.

Anderson comes to Farm Credit of Southern Colorado from Heartland Bank, a community bank in Hastings, Nebraska, where he most recently served as Regional President.

Lamar Community College Foundation is making final preparations for its first annual Boots, Bling & Blessings celebration Saturday, October 21, at 6:00pm in the LCC Equine Complex. 

The Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Rodeo Team returned home from Riverton, Wyoming, and the Central Wyoming College Rustler Round-Up victorious with a men’s team championship.  Riverton was the fourth and final stop of the fall college rodeo season.  Leading the charge for a team title was sophomore, Jace Staudt an Ag Business major from Nathrop, Colorado.  Staudt started the day with a solid 3rd place finish in the team roping heading for JD Kirwin of Gillette College.  Staudt followed it up with a go-round win and an average title in the tie-down roping.  The w

The Kiowa County Commissioner’s Meeting Regular meeting was called to order on September 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott. Scott opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those in Attendance:
