The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work to add four passing lanes on US 287 between Kit Carson and Lamar. This work is set to begin Monday, February 14, and is expected to be completed in February 2023. 

Two northbound passing lanes will be added between MP 94 to MP 96 (North of Lamar) and MP 114 to 116 (North of Love’s Travel Stop in Eads). Two southbound passing lanes will be added between MP 110.9 to MP 112.4 (Near the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Eads) and MP 120 to 122 (South of Kit Carson). 

The Regular meeting of the Kiowa County Commissioners was called to order on January 27, 2022; at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Donald Oswald. Oswald opened the meeting with Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Those in attendance:

Minutes: Robertson moved, and Lening seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2022 meeting as presented. Motion carried.

District Board members present were: Craig Kerfoot, Mary Eikner, Claire Prince, and Ken Flory.

Absent - Kevin Davis.

County Board members present were: Karl Eikenberg. Absent - Pam Cole.
