New appointments to boards and commissions have been announced for Colorado.

The Bent’s Fort Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association annual meeting will be held Saturday, January 11, at the J. W. Rawlings Heritage Center and Museum, 560 Bent Avenue, in Las Animas. The meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a general business meeting followed by a catered lunch.  

After lunch, there will an update about the Santa Fe Trail Association by Joanne Vancoevern, Association Manager, and Deb Goodrich, Publicity Chair, who will discuss the present and future plans of the Association.

Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, has announced the Dean’s List for its fall 2019 semester. For the semester, 419 students from 21 states and 10 countries were named to the Dean’s List, with 256 students achieving a 4.0 grade point average.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.0 scale and be registered for full-time coursework.

Students are listed alphabetically by hometown. International students are located at the end of the list.

James Theodore Jacobs was born in Eads to Edgar and Mildred Jacobs January 6, 1938. James left us peacefully while resting in the comfort of his bed next to his loving wife of 53 years, Yoshi, and sister, Juanita Stowell, the evening of December 22, 2019. “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.” (Abraham Lincoln)
