The office of Congressman Ken Buck will host office hours for constituents Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Eads.
A staff representative will be available to listen to constituent concerns and to serve as a resource for those attempting to navigate federal programs and bureaucratic red tape. Constituents seeking assistance are encouraged to bring any relevant documentation.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff Monday (March 14, 2016) at all public buildings across the state in memory of Park County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Nate Carrigan. Flags are to be at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
Carrigan was killed in the line of duty while helping to serve an eviction notice at a Park County home in later February.
Services for Carrigan will be held Monday in Arvada.
Daylight Saving Time begins again Sunday morning (March 13, 2016) at 2:00 a.m. when clocks “spring forward” one hour to 3:00 a.m. and an hour’s sleep is lost.
Most current computers, cell phones and other digital devices will make the adjustment automatically, though other devices will need to be reset manually – and the occasional technology glitch leads to clocks that are reset on the wrong day, or not at all.
It may only be mid-March, however April-like temperatures will prevail Friday through Monday in Kiowa County, with highs in the low to mid-70s and overnight lows in the 30s.
Friday will be breezy, with 15-20 mile per hour winds in the afternoon. For the remainders of the weekend, winds in the 10-15 mile per hour range.
There is a very slight change of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night before 11:00 p.m. possibly bringing less than 1/10 of an inch of rain – higher amounts are possible with thunderstorms.

On February 26, 2016, the Eads FFA chapter held its annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and Hired Hand Auction. Local auctioneers Rob Morlan and Larry Lusher auctioned off all 35 Eads FFA members to the community in exchange for 8 hours of the members’ labor.

A celebration of life for longtime Eads, Colorado resident, Robert L. Kliesen will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Eads Community Building with Reverend Nancy Peacock officiating. Robert will be laid to rest by his daughter Rone Jean at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado at a later date.
Robert was born on July 16, 1950 at Dodge City, Kansas to Leonard William and Helen Fern (Daniels) Kliesen and passed away on March 8, 2016 at his home in Eads with his family by his side at the age of 65.
