Colorado Joins Suit to Prevent Collecting Citizenship Information in Census

The State of Colorado is now part of a bipartisan coalition of 18 states plus the District of Columbia, nine cities, four counties, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The coalition has filed an amended lawsuit to block the Trump Administration from demanding citizenship information in the 2020 decennial Census, adding new co-plaintiffs and bolstering the arguments in their complaint.

Avoid Hantavirus – Practice Prevention and Year-Round Rodent Control

As spring cleaning gets underway, the state health department reminds Coloradans to take steps to avoid hantavirus, a rare but potentially fatal respiratory disease from a virus carried by deer mice.

People are most likely to get hantavirus by breathing in dirt and dust contaminated with deer mouse urine, droppings or saliva. More people get hantavirus in the spring and summer, often while cleaning up homes, yards and sheds.

Weisbrod Auxiliary Meeting Notes

Tables had to be added for place settings at the April Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary meeting at the JJ’s Ranch House for the following ladies:  Valorie Briggs, Barb Diel, Betty Crow, Cleta Englehardt, Alice Glover, LaVerle Kelley, Doris Lessenden, Opal Miner, Madonna Pollreis, Loretta Seibel, and staff: Teri Simmons-Castle.

President Alice Glover chaired the meeting and complemented those who go to the Extended Care Unit (nursing home) to play Bingo or Bunco on the second Tuesday night of the month.

Federal Judge Orders Lamborn to be Placed on Primary Ballot

A U.S. District Court judge today ordered Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams to put Congressman Doug Lamborn's name on the June 26 primary ballot.

Judge Philip Brimmer said the secretary cannot enforce a state law that requires petition circulators be residents of Colorado. With that law struck, the six-term congressman had enough valid voter signatures to get on the ballot. His candidacy was in question after two separate courts ruled that some of his signatures couldn't be counted because they were collected by nonresidents.

East End Events

Theresa and Quinton Weber went to Denver over the weekend to be with Jerry. Theresa reported that Jerry seemed to be finally doing better. Keep him in your prayers that he continues to move forward.

Saturday, Amy Schmidt, Barb Wanderlingh and I traveled to Springfield to watch the track team compete. It was a nice warm day and there were lots of teams there.

Congratulations to Larry and Amanda Koeller on the birth of their daughter. Emalee was born April 24 in Lamar.
