Lamar Community College Open House set for Thursday

Lamar Community College will be hosting an Open House November 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Betz Technology Center. 

“We are excited to be adding a fall Open House to our schedule this year,” said Tori Hawks, Coordinator of Recruiting at LCC.  “At the Open House, we can help students apply for admission, apply for scholarships, introduce them to professors, and learn more about LCC in general.  We hope to see a lot of new faces here that night and help everyone that walks through the doors.”

“The Sand Creek Massacre and the Civil War” Film Coming to Eads

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush proclaimed November as National Native American Heritage Month. Every November since 1990, each president has followed with a proclamation encouraging Americans to honor and observe the history of the very first Americans and to remember the contributions, sacrifices, and service that many native peoples have given to the United States. At the same time, not all of our nation’s history with Native Americans has been positive or equitable.

La Niña Conditions Expected to Continue this Winter

There is a 65 to 75 percent chance of La Niña conditions continuing through the winter according to the Climate Prediction Center, up from 55 to 65 percent in late October when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its winter outlook. There is a greater than 50 percent chance of the conditions continuing though the February to April time frame. La Niña conditions were also present for the winter of 2016-2017 before returning to average conditions for the summer.

November 12th -  Last date to remove hay bales from CRP (FSA prior approval required)
