Wind Farm Brings Jobs, Rate Savings to Southern Colorado

In 2004, Colorado enacted a renewable energy standard (RES), which has informed energy diversification by requiring Colorado utilities to increase their share of electricity from renewable sources. Each investor-owned utility must achieve 30% renewable generation by 2020, and for one utility, a single project recently played a crucial role to keep them on target to meet Colorado’s RES.

Eads Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Demitasse

Dennis Pearson, Eads Chamber of Commerce hands Co-owners, Chelsea Davis and Cathy Davis an envelope of Eads Bucks and letter welcoming these ladies and their new Demitasse Coffee Shop business to a Year’s Free Membership to the Chamber.  Jan Richards of the KCDEF office was with the welcoming committee on a busy Wednesday morning while they were serving a variety of flavored coffees, cold drinks and muffins.  The ladies also manage a large gym of fitness equipment for 24 hour a day use which is now in Eads to help fulfill the physical fitness needs of many people in this coun

Act Now to Protect Your Hay from Winter Wildlife Damage

Anyone who relies on hay to feed livestock during the winter should start planning now to protect that valuable crop from deer and elk.
During winters with deep snow, deer and elk will look for easy sources of food and unprotected hay stacks are an attractant, explained Chris Kloster, game damage coordinator for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. If haystacks are poorly protected the animals can quickly get to hay and consume large amounts.

Water Engineers Honored for Creating John Martin Conservation Pool

Three state water engineers who were instrumental in breaking a 40-year deadlock between Colorado and Kansas to secure water for a permanent fish and wildlife conservation pool in John Martin Reservoir were honored Thursday by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission at its meeting here.

For their “outstanding support of Colorado’s wildlife,” CPW Director Bob Broscheid praised recently retired State Engineer Dick Wolfe, Steve Witte, Arkansas River Basin division engineer, and Bill Tyner, deputy Arkansas River Basin engineer.

Scholarships Available for Fall Semester at Lamar Community College
