Financial assistance is available for Colorado companies with an organic certification. In order to qualify for this year’s reimbursement, producers and handlers must have received certification or continuation of certification by a US Department of Agriculture (USDA) accredited certifying agent commencing October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016.

To date, there have been 58 motorcyclist deaths in Colorado this year, nearly a 14 percent increase over this time last year when 51 deaths had been recorded, according to preliminary data from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Of those 58 motorcyclists killed, 34 were not wearing helmets.

Emergency crews responded to two lightning-sparked fires in Kiowa County Sunday night.
Fifty area fire fighters and nearly 40 pieces of equipment were used to contain the blazes, which occurred near the intersection of County Roads 49 and R, and along County Road 54.
Nearly 2,000 acres burned between the two fires, which were contained and in mop-up by 3:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Fishing is slow for all species. The lake is still at a higher volume. Night fishing is the best time to fish due to warm daytime temperatures.

Lee and Maxine (Peck) Blooding celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends in Fort Collins Saturday afternoon. The Bloodings organized the Prairie Queen 4-H Club in l948 so there are still some adults in this community who lovingly remember them and the life changing lessons they taught us.
