Random acts of kindness: I saw Jo Shoemaker on Valentine’s Day, when she was handing out pink and red bags to people along Maine Street. They contained a pretty pink glazed heart-shaped sugar cookie that she had made. What a sweet treat!
Ag Hemp Presentation Set for Lamar Community College
The Colorado Department of Agriculture will host the Hemp Road Show on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 1:00-4:00pm. The event will take place in the Trustees Building at Lamar Community College in the Buchanan Events Room and Room 114. The event is free and open to the public.

The unseasonably warm period continues through middle of the week ahead of a cool-down that may bring rain and snow by the end of the week.
Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), along with bipartisan colleagues from the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, sent a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney to encourage adequate funding for the Secure Rural Schools and Self-Determination (SRS) Program.
The letter reads in full:
Dear Director Mulvaney:
Hazardous materials, more commonly referred to as chemicals, are used regularly in our daily lives. A hazardous material is any solid, liquid, or gas that can cause harm to humans and other living organisms. Many products containing hazardous chemicals are routinely used and stored in homes. They are used to grow our food, clean our homes, fuel our cars, and purify our water, which means we have to be careful about how we use and store these chemicals.
