The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted by a county resident about a phone call where the caller purported to be from the IRS in order to obtain personal information.

The IRS does not call – or email - people asking for personally identifying information, including financial information. The agency sends notification via the United States Postal Services, and also responds to calls from taxpayers. Anyone receiving such a call should simply hang up.

Recipe - Bread in a Bag

Makes: 12 servings

This yeast bread recipe is a great way to engage learners both young and old.

Ingredients

2 cups flour (all-purpose)

1 cup flour (whole wheat)

3 tablespoons milk (powdered)

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon yeast (rapid rise)

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup water (warm, 120 to 130 degrees F)

1 flour (as needed, extra, for kneading)

Directions

All state and county Colorado driver license offices will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 17, for a technology upgrade. This closure does not affect county title and registration offices, but does impact the driver license services offered in the following county motor vehicle offices: Arapahoe, Baca, Cheyenne, Douglas, El Paso, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Lake, Lincoln, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma.

The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the community in solving two recent burglaries that occurred in Eads.

Kiowa County Abstract and Praise Community Church were both burglarized at the end of January.

Burn Awareness Week, observed February 5-11, 2017, is designed to provide an opportunity for burn, fire and life safety educators to unite in sharing a common burn awareness and prevention message in our communities.
