East End Events

By Sharon Scott

We hope everyone had a safe and blessed Thanksgiving Holiday.

Dick, Kyle and I had my mom, Mary Huddleston; my sister, Jerene DeBono and husband Ian; my brothers, Larry and Mike Huddleston and my nephew, Pat Huddleston for Thanksgiving dinner. We were small in number, but we had a great time remembering the good ole' days.  Sure brought back memories long forgotten.

Guests of Cheri Hopkins for Thanksgiving dinner were her daughter Christy and son Evan and his wife Jen and their children.

Two Salida Area Poaching Incidents Leaves CPW Searching for Answers

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking that anyone with information concerning two separate Salida-area poaching incidents come forward.

On November 19, around 11:00 a.m., near Ute Heights off of county road 178, a deer was shot and loaded into what is believed to be a black or charcoal Nissan Titan or Toyota Tundra by three males. One man was wearing a white T-shirt and the two others were in dark clothing. The vehicle was last seen driving toward U.S. Forest Service Rd. 175 and the intersection into Pinon Hills.

Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Fall Temperatures Return, Fire Risk Sunday

By Chris Sorensen

Hope for moisture has faded, and fire weather may make an appearance Sunday.

A slight chance of rain remains in the forecast until 9:00 a.m. Sunday, only to be replaced by blowing dust after 11:00 a.m. The warmest day of the week will see a high near 60 before falling to the mid-20s overnight. West winds will increase to 25 to 35 miles-per-hour, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Conditions will fall just short of fire weather thresholds, however any activity that could spark a fire is strongly discouraged.
