Colorado Drought Conditions Strengthen Again

By Chris Sorensen

Drought conditions increased again across Colorado over the past week, with only the western portion of Moffat County untouched by any category of dryness.

Currently, more than 67 percent of the state is considered abnormally dry – the lowest-level drought category - with an additional 31 percent listed as being in moderate drought.

While the expansion of abnormally dry conditions was minor, moderate drought increased from just under 25 percent of the state last week to current level.

Photo of the Week

One of our most popular features from the past 15 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.

Card of Thanks

We want to thank everyone who called, sent cards and prayers to our family after the loss of our mother. We especially would like to thank the United Methodist Women who prepared a wonderful meal.  We will miss her terribly but it is comforting to know that she is back in Eads with so many friends.
