- LeRoy Jacobs was special guest and recipient of a 50-year membership plaque at Kiowa county Farm Bureau.
- The first snow of the season blew into Kiowa County leaving behind a skiff of white powder and icy roads.
- Colorado State University recently honored several Cooperative Extension Agents during the Extension form. George Ellicott, county unit leader for Kiowa County, was as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

October 29, 1976
- Some 200 tons of hay belonging to Ed Negley were destroyed in the early morning hours. At the exact same hour another fire threatened a bridge west of Haswell.
- Potpourri: Often there is some bitterness generated between the faithful of the 2 parties in an election campaign such as we have had during recent months. We have heard of little or none of that this year.
- What is still probably a record snowfall in Kiowa County occurred 30 years ago this week. Tuesday the wind had subsided. At that point there was 30 inches of snow on the level.
