William R. Kochis, 84, after an eleven-year battle, succumbed to metastatic prostate cancer October 4, 2021, at his home in Washington, D.C. Bill Kochis was born November 15, 1936, in Matheson to John and Ruth Kochis.

New Mexico continues to battle the largest wildfires in its history, and other states including Nevada, along with parts of Arizona and Colorado, have been warned of high fire danger through the weekend.

North Dakota's State Department of Environmental Quality is monitoring water surface water about 33 miles south of Fargo, where a liquid fertilizer spill occurred recently.
