Helen LaVerne (Bass) Miller was born August 7, 1923, in Bellaire, Ohio, to Clyde Everett and Helen Isabel (Anderson) Bass. She passed away March 29, 2020, at the age of 96, at Prairie Pines Assisted Living Center in Eads.
Helen, lovingly known as Vernie, was the oldest child in her family. Vernie had wonderful memories of her childhood which included trips to Texas and California.
In the current climate with the dangers of COVID-19 becoming quite real, people are advised to practice social distancing in order to stop the disease’s spread. Social distancing involves keeping a distance of six feet or more from other people. This is particularly important for seniors who are at the highest risk of experiencing severe illness due to the virus. If you are an older adult, it may be wisest for you to stay in and immediately around your home. With such a spatial restriction, though, what can you do to maintain your mental and physical wellness?
Thank you to the cafeteria staff, volunteer staff, and bus drivers that made this happen. We dispersed 200 meal packages. Each package contained three days of meals, so that totaled 600 meals handed out. The meal delivery was very efficient, and can be reduced to two hours.

In an attempt to keep the virus from spreading, governments are suggesting that people shelter in place and practice social distancing. This means staying home unless you are having a medical emergency, working from home if you can, and avoiding contact with others. Being at home, however, doesn’t have to be awful. Take advantage of the time and spend it with your family and make the best of this time.

Sandra Kay McCann, 59, passed away March 6, 2020, at Huntsmans Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, due to complications from pneumonia as well as cancer.
She was born October 26, 1960, in Marion, Kansas, to Loretta (Seibel) and James Knoblock. She grew up in Eads and graduated high school at Eads High School in 1978.
Most Colorado residents are concerned about the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the state.
