CDOT Expanding Bus Service to Central Rockies; Southwestern Colorado
Beginning this weekend, people living the Gunnison Valley and in southwestern Colorado will have a new way to travel to Denver, Grand Junction and other locations, including areas along the Front Range beginning next week.
Saturday, June 30, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) existing Bustang service is expanding to serve the communities along U.S. 160, Colorado 145, U.S. 550 and U.S 50 between Durango and Grand Junction.

$5,000 in Prizes for Ridgway State Park Smallmouth Bass Tourney
Anglers can vie for $5,000 in cash prizes and actively participate in an important wildlife-management activity at this year’s Fourth Annual Smallmouth Bass Tournament at Ridgway State Park, July 7-28. The tournament is sponsored by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
No tournament entry fee is required, and the more smallmouth bass anglers catch and keep the better their chances of winning prizes. Anyone 16 years and older must have a Colorado fishing license to participate.
Movie Review - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Back in 2015, “Jurassic World” briefly set the box office record for biggest opening weekend of all time with $208 million before climbing to #3 on the overall domestic chart. It seemed as though people couldn’t get enough of dinosaurs chowing down on some arrogant human victims. Now comes “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, which opened this past weekend to a relatively tame $150 million. People still want to see the dinos, but it’s a little less special this time.
Colorado Crop Progress and Condition Summary – Week Ending June 24, 2018
Warm temperatures last week interspersed with severe storms continued to push crop growth and maturity, according to the Mountain Region Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.
Eastern districts received mostly isolated moisture, while western and southern counties remained dry.

The Maine Street Bash is in five weeks on Saturday, July 28! It will be similar to last year, it is free to walk in and wander around the tents and spaces between 13th and 14th Streets with events in the buildings and park. If vendors want to be in the action just talk to a CLCEC Board member. There will be music from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. thanks to Terry Riley’s sound system which includes live music.
Ranchers Invited to Hear Cattle Association Updates
Bent-Prowers Cattle and Horse Growers Association members are invited to join its multi-county board and the Southeast Colorado Junior Cattlemen for a potluck Saturday night, June 30, in Lamar. The evening will include a presentation by Nathan May, who just returned from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Young Cattlemen’s Conference (YCC); as well as highlights from last week’s Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) convention.
