GREAT NEWS!! After spending 3 months in the hospital, Jerry Weber has been released and is staying with his sister, Kathy Knutson in Denver while he does therapy. We are happy that you are doing so well Jerry, but I'm sure no one is any happier than you are!! Hope to see you back home soon.

Storm systems at week’s end brought locally heavy rain to mostly northern and eastern counties, while conditions in western and southern counties continued to deteriorate due to drought, according to the Mountain Region Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA.

Northeastern county reporters noted moisture last week continued to improve dryland crop and pasture conditions, although isolated damaging hail was also observed. Heavy weekend moisture delayed fieldwork with weed emergence in wheat an issue due to limited field access.

Agriculture producers across 34 Colorado counties may now eligible for physical loss loans due to damages from fires and high winds that occurred this year between February 13 and April 19, as well as a blizzard and high winds that occurred April 13-14. The deadline to apply is January 9, 2019.

Producers in Baca, Chaffee, El Paso, Las Animas, Prowers, Pueblo and Washington counties – designated at primary damage areas - may be eligible for the low-interest loans if they suffered “severe physical losses” which can include buildings and livestock.

A celebration of life for longtime Wiley resident, Frederick A. Esgar will be held at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Wiley United Methodist Church with Zach Esgar officiating. Interment will be held prior to the church service at 2:00 p.m. at the Wiley Cemetery under the auspices of the Lamar Masonic Lodge #90. 

Visitation for Frederick will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peacock Family Chapel. 

Employers in Colorado added 7,200 nonfarm payroll jobs from March to April for a total of 2,717,000 jobs, according to the survey of business establishments. Private sector payroll jobs increased 6,300 and government increased 900.
