Largest Earthquake in Colorado this Year Strikes Las Animas County Saturday
Las Animas was the site of another earthquake Saturday evening according to the United States Geological Survey.
The 4.0 quake, as measured on the Richter Scale, occurred at about 4:45 p.m. as was centered about 68 miles south of Pueblo at a depth of three miles. The earthquake was downgraded slightly from the original 4.1 report.
An hour after the earthquake occurred, 30 people had reporting feeling the shaking, however damages and injuries had not been reported.
Wind Chill Advisory Sunday for Eastern Counties – Download Free Wind Chill Chart
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory beginning at 11:00 p.m. Sunday, continuing through 9:00 a.m. Monday. In Colorado, Baca, Prowers, Kiowa, Cheyenne, Kit Carson, and Yuma counties will be under the advisory, as will border counties in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Cooking at Home - Soft Pretzels
Makes: 12 servings
A great snack to make with kids. Perfect to dip in mustard for a savory pretzel, or a low-fat vanilla yogurt for a sweet treat.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon yeast
1 1⁄2 cups warm water (100-110 degrees F)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1⁄2 cups whole wheat flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar
sesame seeds (2 Tablespoons, optional)
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.

When winter really digs in, you might not think about your favorite state park or wildlife area as a destination. It’s cold and only the hardcore hikers, campers, ice-fishing enthusiasts, cross-country skiers and snowshoers have us at top of mind.
Don’t forget about us or you’ll miss out on some great winter festivals and wildlife viewing opportunities available across the state this time of year. I’m particularly thinking about our annual Eagle Day Festivals on the first weekend of February at both Lake Pueblo State Park and Barr Lake State Park in Brighton.
