Doris Forrest (Price) was born January 29, 1919 on the family farm about 11 miles southwest of Kit Carson. Her parents were Lewis H. “Lute” Forrest and Eva Ethel Forrest. Eva and Lute had moved from Lexington, Nebraska to Cheyenne County to farm and ranch. Doris was the third of six girls born to the family and the first to be born in Colorado.
