It begins in early morning, when the early risers among us go out to do the chores. Later on, the day may seem almost summer hot, but early in the morning, we can feel it. We can sense autumn. Our eyes that are so tired from the sun’s burning can look silently around at the slight turning of the leaves, and we’ll know. It’s coming. We can feel it.

Preparedness Month - Get Involved! Be a Part of Something Larger

National Preparedness Month (NPM) concludes this week. The Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management hopes you will be inspired to get involved and become a part of something larger.  Year round, millions of community members participate in America’s PrepareAthon, building the national momentum of preparedness. But twice a year, a national day of action, called National PrepareAthon! Day, focuses attention on the importance of creating a more resilient Nation by bringing together stakeholders, communities, and individuals to take preparedness action.

Annual Photo Contest Focuses on Colorado Agriculture

From rolling green fields and helpful pollinators to patriotic cowboys and cattle in the morning light, the beauty of Colorado agriculture is evident. It’s once again time to capture the “spirit” of Colorado agriculture through pictures. The 20th annual “Colorado…it’s AgriCultural” photography contest is seeking entries as a way to celebrate the state’s agricultural heritage.

Food Safety Resources Available for Colorado Produce Growers

Colorado produce growers can benefit from a grant the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) received from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Department has partnered with Colorado State University (CSU) Extension to offer a variety of resources to help farmers comply with the newly implemented Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule.
