The Kiowa County Commissioner’s Regular meeting was called to order on July 13, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott. Commissioner Oswald opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those in attendance were:

Oswald moved and McLoud seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the June 29, 2017 meeting. All Commissioners voted Affirmative.

Doris Forsyth 
(October 17, 1926 - July 25, 2017) 
Graveside committal services in the Eads Cemetery are being planned for a later date. Mrs. Forsyth passed away in Washington state.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

James Gustason 
(December 26, 1957 - July 26, 2017) 
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Mr. Gustason died unexpectedly at Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells.

Temperatures across Southeast Colorado will be below normal Wednesday as another round of monsoon moisture spreads across the area.

The Sand Creek Massacre is a seminal event in American Indian history, a brutal massacre that took 230 Cheyenne and Arapaho lives in a surprise raid by Colorado (US) Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War. At 10:00 am on Saturday, August 5, join Park Ranger Teri Jobe on a free guided tour that traces the path of the attack.

David "Dave" Norris Harrison

December 17, 1941 - July 19, 2017

David "Dave" Norris Harrison, 75, retired from Vulcan Chemicals in 2000 where he was a chemical engineer.

He passed away July 19, 2017, from complications of Alzheimer’s.
