Common hunting violations can be costly

By Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Every hunting season, officers for Colorado Parks and Wildlife hand out thousands of tickets for violations that cost hunters hundreds of thousands of dollars. While some of those tickets are for flagrant violations of wildlife regulations and hunting laws, many more are for minor violations that could have been avoided.

Hunters are reminded that not only can they be fined for violations, they can also lose their hunting privileges in Colorado and the 44 other states that cooperatively participate in a wildlife compact agreement.

Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Cooler Start, then Warming

By Chris Sorensen

Cool air continues to flow across Colorado, resulting in below average temperatures and a sunny, dry autumn Sunday.

Sunday and Monday will see low to mid-70s across Kiowa County during the day, and overnight lows in the mid-30s. North winds will be in the 15-20 mile-per-hour range Sunday.

Low to mid-80s return by Tuesday, continuing into the weekend. As an upper ridge shifts east and a closed low moves across Arizona and Nevada, moisture will move into the Four Corners area. Chances for precipitation return Thursday and Friday.

Home Country

It takes a special person to be a good teacher in a rural school. Unlike the great city amalgamated and homogenized institutes of lower learning, the rural schools tend not to have teachers who are putting in time until their heart stops. And it’s a mixed blessing, because rural schools sometimes have to hire someone whose only qualification is a pulse. But there are those rural teachers who go down in legend for their creativity.
