SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Coming to Southeast Colorado

The National Weather Service in Pueblo provides SKYWARN weather spotter preparedness and training.  Typically, the sessions are scheduled from late March through early May each year, and are a cooperative effort of local government officials and the National Weather Service.  The sessions are free of charge and usually open to everyone unless noted.

- latest hot topics about National Weather Service

- when and how to report severe weather

Southeast Colorado Historic Sites Promote Firewise Education

The Bent’s Old Fort and Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Sites have recently become the first locations in Colorado to attain recognition as pilot Firewise Education Sites. A Firewise Education Site promotes wildfire preparedness and illustrates Firewise principles in action for the educational benefit of visitors, including teaching people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encouraging communities to work together to take action to prevent losses.

Kiowa County Hospital Board Meeting Minutes - January 24, 2017

The Kiowa County Hospital District and County Board met in regular session on January 24, 2017 at 6:33 p.m. at the Bank Meeting Room.

District Board members present were: Robert Woods, Mary Eikner, Sylvia Shields, Priscilla Waggoner and Cathryn Anderson.

County Board members present were: Kim Harris, Craig Kerfoot, John Negley and Dennis Pearson. Absent: Lori Shalberg (called)

Others present: Tristen Sheridan, Shannon Dixon, Char Korrell, Kevin Siefkas and Cindy McLoud.

The meeting was called to order by Mary Eikner, Chairman of the Board.
