Holiday Season is Do-or-Die for Small Retailers

Students at Kansas State University have earned nearly 14,200 academic scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year — 500 more than in 2015-2016 and 2,000 more than in 2014-2015.
Overall, Kansas State University students have earned more than $33.28 million in scholarships for the current academic year. Nearly 6,500 in-state students received $24.45 million, 1,456 out-of-state students received $8.29 million and 227 international students received more than $548,000 in scholarship funding.

Despite the cold, snowy weather on Wednesday, the Senior Citizen Christmas dinner at Plainview School was well attended. The meal was dellicious and the 2nd and 3rd graders had made cute snowmen favors .
Everyone had a very enjoyable time. A big thank you to all that made it a very special occasion.

There were two marvelous musical shows in Eads last week. The first was on Thursday at Eads Elementary School Christmas program under the direction of Mrs. Monica (Fell) Uhland. The Eagle’s Nest Pre-School youngsters taught by Mrs. Jill Williams and Mrs. Kayla McLoud charmed the audience with their darling songs.
The scholarship application has opened for Lamar Community College. Prospective or current LCC students who will be returning next year can now begin applying for scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.

New Year’s resolutions are an ancient tradition, focused on some form of self-improvement. e practice is just as relevant today as it was for the ancient Romans and Babylonians. Studies show that 46% of those who take the time to make common resolutions like weight loss, joining an exercise program, or quitting smoking, were over 10-times more likely to have a rate of success as compared to only 4% who chose not to make resolutions.
