Weekend Weather Outlook – 60 Degree Drop Friday

By Chris Sorensen

A warm and windy Friday will give way to a cold and snowy weekend. If you have weekend shopping travel plans, keep in mind weather warnings and advisories will be in place for many areas. Roads may be extremely slick and icy – good reason to stay close to home and shop locally.

Fire risk is elevated across the area as temperatures rise to the low 60s Friday, accompanied by west winds in the 15 to 20 mile-per-hour range and gusts as high as 30 mph in Kiowa County, and potentially stronger in other part of southeast Colorado.

Weather Outlook – Don’t be Fooled by the Next Few Days

By Chris Sorensen

Warm weather will make a brief return for a few days ahead of frigid temperatures and potential snow.

Thursday kicks off a short warming period as temperatures reach the upper 40s under mostly sunny skies, followed by a mostly cloudy evening that will lock in some heat and keep the overnight low in the upper 20s.

Friday’s high will be in the low 60s, but look for west winds in the 10 to 20 mile-per-hour range and gusts to 30 mph as an arctic front begins to move into the region. Winds and warmer temperatures may produce some fire risk in the area.
