Lamar Man Found Dead in Iowa

Fremont County, Iowa, deputies and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner have identified a man found dead beneath a bridge in Sidney.

Larry Eugene Burns II, 39, of Lamar, died due to blunt force trauma due to the fall, and hypothermia. His death was initially considered suspicious.

Burns last contacted relatives November 22, and his body was discovered December 11 by deer hunters underneath the Highway 2 bridge, which crosses the Missouri River. Deputies believe Burns was walking along the westbound shoulder of the bridge when he fell.

School is out for the holidays for most people.  This past week was filled with School and Church Christmas programs.  We also had the Christmas Holiday Basketball Tournament in Lamar, although the weather was pretty bad for people coming from a distance on Saturday morning.
