The Sand Creek Massacre is a seminal event in American Indian history, a brutal massacre that took 230 Cheyenne and Arapaho lives in a surprise raid by Union troops during the Civil War. At 5 pm on Saturday, October 22, join ranger Mario Medina at the Plains Theater in Eads as he presents a free historic lecture on Hispanic involvement in the Sand Creek Massacre.
GOCO is seeking volunteer peer reviewers for Local Government Land Acquisition, Local Park and Outdoor Recreation, Mini, and Planning grant applications. Peer reviewers are integral to our grant application review process. Plus, acting as a peer reviewer provides an excellent opportunity for you to learn about what makes a successful GOCO grant application.
Ballots must be received by election officials by November 8 to count
The United States Postal Service is alerting all registered voters to watch their mailboxes this week for mail-in ballots for the 2016 General Election.
This week, election officials began the process of depositing some of the more than three million ballots destined for Colorado registered voters.
Eleven grants totaling $549,000 were awarded through the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s 2016 Specialty Crops Program. Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture). Funds are received by the Colorado Department of Agriculture from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, which is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of specialty crops.

Susan Greenfield's dad, Norman and her sister Sami and husband John spent the weekend with her. They went to the volleyball and football games on Friday evening between Eads and Kit Carson. On Saturday, they attended the Oktoberfest in Eads.

October 1, 2016 several volunteer firemen from Towner and Sheridan Lake, along with Colorado State Patrol, and Kiowa County Emergency Manager, conducted a demonstration at Plainview School on the consequences of texting while driving.
Trooper Parker gave a brief presentation on the legal consequences of texting while driving.
