Guardrail replacement and shoulder widening will result in safer ride

The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work on Colorado Highway (CO) 96 near the town of Boone to upgrade guardrail, widen shoulders and update signage, and install new delineators in the area.

Project work begins at mile marker (MM) 85.44 and extends approximately one mile to MM 86.33. All work on the project will be completed by December 2016. Tricon 2 of Castle Rock, CO will perform as the prime contractor on this $873,500 project.

• USDA Update: Fall harvest is wrapping up way ahead of schedule. Yields are ranging from very good to very poor but in general better than expected.

• Wild Horse Roundup-Curtis Schrimp: While at Marty’s, she showed how her computer works. Lee started an e-mail, and wrote two lines then said I would finish. I am pretty proud of how much I wrote with one finger.

After school kids program started 9-19-16 and then every following Monday. Someone will be at the school to walk over any kids that want to walk and we are finished at 5:30pm and also give them a snack. A graveside funeral service for longtime Lamar resident, Etha Martinson, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 14, 2016 at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar with Reverend Kathy Leathers of the Holly United Methodist Church officiating.

Per Etha’s request there will be no public visitation.
